Going back to the daily grind i s a hard transition after spending weeks or months staying home and getting to know your precious little one. Here are a few suggestions that will keep the guilt at bay and have you feeling good about going back to work! Remember that time with your children is not about quantity but about quality! Even if the time you spend with them is minimum…make sure you make every second count. Your child will know you love them for the special time you do spend with them.
Find a Nanny or Daycare provider that you feel comfortable with. If you know your child is in good hands you will feel better about leaving them for those hours you’re at the office. Make sure your Nanny or Daycare provider has open communication with you. Not knowing what your child does all day can make you feel uneasy and cause extra worry during the day.
Great ways to spend quality time:
- Read them a story or have them read to you
- Play their favorite game
- Have them help you cook dinner
- Turn off the phone, tv and play some music and have a dance party
Remember that you are teaching your child an important life lesson by working. You are helping to support your family and that is a very important job! Don’t compare yourself to other Mom’s. We all do the best we can with our children in our situation. If other Mom’s or family members are not supportive of your decision to work, remind them that your child is #1 Priority.
Find a Mom’s group that is supportive of the working Mom. They do exist! Relating to other working Mom’s and their struggles can help you cope with your own. Plus it’s a great play date for the kids! www.meetup.com is a great resource in finding a group of working Mom’s near you!
