Snack time used to mean chips, crackers, and popcorn…until moms started asking what’s actually good for my family? Now, more parents are turning to smarter, cleaner, more mindful snack choices that kids actually enjoy.

That’s where Cob Foods comes in. Offering popped sorghum snacks that are crunchy, flavorful, and allergen-friendly, Cob Foods is quickly becoming a favorite pantry pick for families looking for snacks that feel good and taste great.

This is real-life snacking moms can feel confident about — without sacrificing flavor or fun.

Moms Need Better Snacking Options

Let’s be honest: juggling schedules, school lunches, playdates, and packed evenings leaves little room for complicated diets.

But moms do care about:

• Simple wholesome ingredients

• Allergy-friendly options

• Snacks kids enjoy

• Foods that fit active lifestyles

Cob Foods checks all those boxes, making snack time both delicious and nutritious.

What Makes Cob Foods Different

Real Moms, Real Favorites

Moms everywhere are sharing how Cob Foods has changed their snack game:

Snack With Purpose

Parents are paying closer attention to what goes into their families’ snacks — not just what tastes good.

With Cob Foods, moms get:
✔ Whole grain goodness
✔ Allergy-friendly options
✔ Snack time peace of mind
✔ Something even picky eaters will eat

The weather is warm, the sun is beating down on your body, you feel the soft sand in between your toes, sipping on a iced coffee that tastes and looks like a milkshake. Your server comes back with the food you ordered, hmm tomatoes and cucumber, tabbouleh, hummus, baba ghanoush and pita. A perfect meal, for a perfect day.

After spending 10 phenomenal days in the Kingdom of Jordan and Tel Aviv, Israel it is easy to see why the Mediterranean diet is one of the best diets out there. It has an abundance of fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, legumes and olive oil. The diet consists of fish and chicken rather than red meat, which is a huge source of bad fat. Everything is fresh and healthy; it is something you can taste with every bite you take. Plus it is suggested to have a glass of red wine with every meal! (Drink in moderation, of course!). There was not one meal that was served that I did not want to have again and again.

One dish that was always available was hummus. Their hummus was like nothing I have ever had before. The texture and taste was smooth and creamy, a perfect dish to spread on top of your pita or to even eat by the spoonful. Since the main ingredient is chickpeas it is a great healthy dish to have as a snack or apart of a main meal. Hummus is great for helping lower cholesterol, it’s easy to make, it may help you eat healthier and it provides great sources of fiber, which will help you stay full for longer.

Since hummus is healthy all on its own, if you start eating it, it will most likely make you want to change the rest of your diet to being healthy as well. Another great aspect to this delicious dish is that it is very easy to make. All you need to chickpeas, tahini, garlic, cumin, paprika (optional), lemon juice and olive oil. You add them all together in a food processor and then you are ready to go! Hummus is also very versatile; you can make many different flavors from jalapeno, avocado, pesto, and sun-dried tomato. All you have to do is add the ingredient you want to the regular hummus recipe and there you go!

According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “Fiber is best known for helping to keep food moving efficiently through your body. This is only one of the many ways fiber contributes to good health.” Since hummus is a good source of fiber if you have it as a snack or as apart of meal it will help you stay fuller for longer, preventing the urge for snacking throughout the day or over eating at a meal. Fiber is also known to have many other health benefits as well such as keeping your heart healthy, giving you more energy and assisting with weight loss.

So let’s do a final checklist as to why the Mediterranean diet is the best way to go. Everything is fresh, check. It’s diverse, check. Everything is healthy, check. Many components are heart healthy, check. It will help you loose weight, check. It’s delicious, check. Red wine is encouraged, check. Overall it is safe to say that this is definitely the way to go!

Here is a simple hummus recipe to try at home!

Hummus

Ingredients:

1 can of chickpeas – save the liquid

¼ cup tahini

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

¼ teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon crushed garlic

¼ teaspoon cumin

*Add another ingredient such as roasted red peppers or avocado to make a different flavor (optional)

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a food processor. Blend until creamy and smooth. Add saved liquid from chickpeas if it is too thick. If needed, as water as well.

Happy Eating!

Halloween is around the corner, as is the dreaded candy crash. Many children will be trick-or-treating, attending parties at school and home, and there will surely be an abundance of candy and other sweets. However, with a little time, healthy snacks, and sweet Halloween magic, you can bring healthier treats to the little monsters in your life.

Banana Ghosts and Clementine Pumpkins

Banana ghosts and clementine pumpkins are a very simple, and very healthy, treat for children and adults. To make a banana ghost, simply cut a banana in half, insert a popsicle stick into the bottom, and decorate with either cheerio, chocolate drops, or raisin eyes. To make a clementine pumpkin, it is even simpler: peel a clementine, and near the top, place a small piece of celery for the pumpkin’s stem.

‘Candy Corn’ Fruit Cups

Candy corn fruit cups is a fun recipe for a Halloween party, whether at home or school, that gives the healthy touch of fruit with just a tiny bit sweet. For this recipe, you’ll need small plastic cups, one can of pineapple chunks (or, try mango), one can of mandarin oranges, and whipped cream. Building the candy corn fruit cup is simple: pineapples first, oranges second, with whipping cream on the top.

Caterpillar Grape Kabobs

Caterpillar grape kabobs are both fun and easy! You will need wooden sticks for kabobs, green or purple grapes, with cream cheese and chocolate drops for the eyes. This idea is especially fun because it adds a bit of ‘candy’ treats for the kids as well as plenty of fruit!

Witch’s Broom

As a non-sweet idea, witch’s brooms are just as fun. For this recipe, you will need pretzel sticks and cheese sticks. To make the end of the broom, cut the cheese sticks in half and cut them to fray as if like a straw broom. Then, insert the pretzel stick into the non-frayed end of the cut cheese stick.

Ghost-wiches

This idea is absolutely adorable: these sandwiches are ghost shaped and made with peanut butter and jelly. Feel free to make sandwiches shaped like bats, witch’s hats, tombstones; the possibilities are nearly endless. This idea is fun because it adds sweet to function.

For ideas about what to give trick-or-treaters, try cheese crackers, fruit snacks, and small toys or miniature games. Children will get the treat that they want, and you will feel better about their health, whether or not they are your children. Halloween should be about fun, not sugar crashes!

(BPT) – Summer snacking is among the most popular of American traditions – right up there with baseball and apple pie. When the sun is shining and the weather is wonderful, we love to feast on our favorite treats at ballgames, picnics and outdoor activities.

Yet the desire for indulgent taste can often get in the way of making good nutritional choices, especially while out and about. Here are some easy tips for planning flavorful, healthy and satisfying snacks that you and your family can pack for any activity this summer.

Navigate concession stands with ease

Chips. Popcorn. Soft pretzels with cheese sauce. Candy bars. Ice cream. Whether you’re enjoying a day at the beach or the ballpark, the spread offered at concession stands rarely varies. Be smart when you’re navigating the snack line-up with simple tricks such as determining whether you are hungry or just thirsty; opting for the most nutrition-packed foods that are low in fat and high in protein, so that your snack satisfies you longer; skipping the bun; and paying attention to the recommended serving size for your snack-of-choice.

Keep protein-packed snacks on hand

Snacks high in protein will keep you and your family feeling energized throughout the day’s activities. Ever since Native Americans and early settlers sought portable, satiating foods, jerky has been a popular take-along choice. Today’s jerky is conveniently packaged and requires no refrigeration. And, while jerky may be as American as apple pie, it is often a better choice. A slice of apple pie can have nearly 20 grams of fat, more than 400 calories and only 3 grams of protein – whereas a 1.25-ounce serving of Jack Link’s Beef Jerky has 18 grams of protein with only 1 gram of fat and 100 calories. Jerky is so popular that it even has its own holiday, National Jerky Day, celebrated annually June 12.

Create snacking pizzazz with fun pairings

Instead of traditional party-pairing standbys like chips and dip or crackers and cheese, plan a beer and jerky get-together, with a selection of brews paired with a bevy of jerky. Jack Link’s offers more than 100 options made from lean cuts of beef, turkey, chicken or pork, and flavors that range from savory or sweet to spicy. When making your beer selections, try interesting options from local and regional craft or microbreweries, to create the perfect snacking combo.

Stay hydrated

Most summer get-togethers offer a variety of beverages to satisfy every guest, such as wine, beer, spirits, fruit juice or soda. In moderation, these beverages can be a refreshing treat. They can, however, also leave you dehydrated and consuming more calories than you intended. Try pairing your beverage of choice with a healthy glass of water. Recent research shows that drinking two 8-ounce glasses of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner, while also cutting back on portions, can help you meet your weight loss goals. While each person’s hydration needs are different, the Institute of Medicine advises that men and women should try to consume about nine to 13 cups of water a day, including water that can be found in food and other beverages, such as fruit, vegetables or even coffee.

Celebrate summer snacking the smart way this year. Create on-the-go feasts by taking healthier snacking choices with you – wherever you go under the sun.
