While pregnancy can be a joyous time, it can also present some odd symptoms and fears.

From Jenna Dewan-Tatum‘s hormonal dreams, to Kim Kardashian‘s wacky food cravings, to Kristin Cavallari‘s delivery dilemma, let’s hear from 7 celebrity moms and their pregnancy confessions.

Kim Kardashian:

Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West welcomed their first child – daughter North West – on June 15. The first-time mom admitted that pregnancy wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.

“Being pregnant is not as easy as my sister [Kourtney Kardashian] made it look or as my mom [Kris Jenner] has made it look,” she admitted.

As for her pregnancy cravings? “I’m craving carrots and ranch dressing,” she said. “I used to love sweets, I used to love chocolate, can’t even eat chocolate!”

Jenna Dewan-Tatum:

Handsome couple Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum welcomed their first child – daughter Everly – on May 31. During her pregnancy, Jenna shared a wacky pregnancy dream.

“OK my fellow preggars ladies.. about these hormonal dreams,” she posted via Twitter. “Is it normal to fly on a magic carpet while presenting at Golden Globes?? Lol.”

Kristin Cavallari:

Kristin Cavallari‘s birth plan didn’t exactly go as she had hoped when it was time to deliver Camden, her first child with Jay Cutler.

“[Childbirth] hurt like a bitch and felt like period cramps, but 10 times worse,” Kristin said.

And when it came time to deliver her son, she didn’t want her football star hubby to see the birth. “I was like, ‘You’re going to be behind me. You’re not going to see anything,’” she said. “And the nurse was like, ‘Oh, no, no. He’s going to hold your leg. I was like, ‘Oh, no he’s not.’ She was like, ‘It’s different when it’s your own.’”

Snooki:

In her signature quirky style, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gave graphic details of her son Lorenzo’s August 2012 birth.

“When my water broke, I thought it would be like [gushing],” she shared.

Snooki added: “But I was just like, peeing my pants every two seconds. I didn’t know what was going on! I couldn’t control it, and I was like ‘I think my water broke.’ I was in labor for 27 hours, but I didn’t feel anything because I got the epidural.”

Jessica Simpson:

New mom-of-two Jessica Simpson accidentally revealed the gender of her second baby – son Ace Knute – in March 2013.

“The crazy thing is I never knew a wiener could make me nauseous,” Jessica quipped.

She added: “It’s a totally different pregnancy. I just feel awful, I’ve been vomiting,” said Jessica, also mom to 16-month-old daughter Maxwell with fiancé Eric Johnson.

Kristen Bell:

Star couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard welcomed their first child – daughter Lincoln – on March 28.

“I’ve got nothing to prove” by giving birth naturally, she joked in January. “I feel like, when I arrive at the hospital, I want a glass of whiskey, I want the epidural in my back and I want to get hit in the face with a baseball bat and wake me up when it’s over because I’ve seen the videos—and it looks terrifying.”

That being said, she loved pregnancy and said her “self-esteem has never been higher.”

“I look in the mirror and I think it’s the reverse body dysmorphia,” she added, “because I can understand what my shape is, but I see Brooke Shields. And it doesn’t make a lick of sense, but it’s something that the baby’s giving me hormonally makes me feel really giggly and happy.”

Megan Fox:

This is 40 star Megan Fox opened up about giving birth naturally to her son Noah Shannon.

“I was screaming for an epidural when Brian was driving me to the hospital because my water broke on its own,” the actress said of Noah’s September 27 birth. “It was level orange alert pain.”

With husband Brian Austin Green by her side, Megan (currently pregnant with the couple’s second child) said the pain was “horrific.”

“It hurts so bad,” she shared. “It was so intense. And I thought I was gonna be really tough and make it, I was gonna labor to like 8 cm . . . but the first contraction that I got was horrific!”

And it sounds like the pain left no time for beautifying pre-birth.

“I had wet hair so I was trying to blow dry my hair before I went to the hospital,” she laughed. “I didn’t want to go to the hospital with wet hair!”

Hollywood is going green!

On April 22, more than one billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day. From Gisele Bündchen to Jessica Alba, let’s take a look at three green celebrity moms who inspire others to protect Mother Nature.

Jessica Alba:

Actress Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren are parents to two daughters: Honor, 5½ and Haven, 2½. 

Shortly after her second daughter arrived, the Fantastic Four star partnered with Christopher Gavigan, dad-of-two and founder of Healthy Child Healthy World, to create The Honest Company, an online source to purchase eco-friendly baby/kid products.

The Sin City actress opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about how she encourages her girls to minimize their carbon footprint.

“First and foremost, we try to model and practice eco-friendly habits for the girls,” she shared. “Otherwise, we talk to them about being mindful and explain that things can be turned into something else one day. This can be as simple as teaching them about recyclables and showing how to sort bottles and cans from trash.”

She added: “We also do a lot of DIY crafts like using cardboard boxes to make airplanes and dollhouses—our creative playtime together similarly shows the girls about repurposing old items.”

The mom-of-two is all about living eco-friendly on a daily basis.

“Involving children in gardening and cooking is another great way to inspire eco-friendly living,” she said. “Caring for the plants in our herb wall garden helps Honor understand the steps to growing food (including patience!), how it ultimately lands on her plate, and about being a good steward of the planet.”

“Honor is also a great sous chef when we’re in the kitchen, so being a part of the dinner process encourages her to eat the foods she grows and develops her taste for fresh ingredients,” she continued. “Hopefully, this lays the foundation for children to prioritize their health and that of the planet.”

Alicia Silverstone:

Alicia Silverstone is one outspoken green mama!

The actress caused quite a stir with a video that went viral. The Clueless star was seen feeding her then- 11-month-old son Bear Blu mouth-to-mouth on her eco-friendly blog The Kind Life.

She wrote: “I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum! I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup…from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite…and mine.”

Alicia and her husband Christopher Jarecki live in a Los Angeles home with solar panels and an organic vegetable garden. The actress is an advocate for animal rights and environmental issues and became a vegan in 1998. She shares her eco-friendly tips on her official website.

Alicia is also vocal about elimination communication, the eco-friendly potty training technique coined by Ingrid Bauer, author of Diaper Free! The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene.

“When Bear Blu was 5-months-old,” the proud mama tweeted, “[S]aturday bear blu went poo and pee on toilet 4x throughout the day…we were so proud! “Check out book Diaper Free..soo fun!” The actress added, “yesterday bear did 2 poops in toilet….so sweet! i’m saving so many diapers…even cloth ones….yahoooo! and it’s so fun!”

Gisele Bündchen:

Supermodel mom Gisele Bündchen has long been an advocate of going green. The Brazilian beauty says that her children – Benjamin, 4, Vivian, 1, and 6-year-old stepson Jack – have made the importance of the message really hit home.

“I had my first munchkin, Jack (husband Tom Brady’s son with Bridget Moynahan), before I gave birth to Benjamin,” Gisele said. “After spending so much time with Jack I saw how he wanted to play with the stuff I was using instead of the toys we bought him. In terms of clothes, I bought Jack so many clothes and am now using them for Benjamin. Look, when I was growing up my sisters and I wore hand-me-downs and am now doing the same thing. This all goes back to my motto: Reduce, recycle and reuse. The more we buy the more we encourage the manufacturers to produce more stuff.”

Also a fan of elimination communication, Gisele said Benjamin was potty trained at 6-months-old! How did she do it?

The model mom said that her son was on a schedule including breastfeeding in the morning and afternoon, promptly followed by a bowel movement, making it easy for her to put him on the toilet and eliminate the use of a diaper. Of the process she said,

“Give it about five minutes, and bang,” admitting with a laugh that she realizes the process is actually, “more complicated.”

From the set of ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, to shaking his groove thing on Season 4 of Dancing With The Stars and baring it all on a Chippendales stage, it goes without saying that Ian Ziering has lived quite the exciting life. We recently chatted with Ian about his busy schedule, his role as a father and husband, and what it’s like being named ‘Daddy of the Year’ by one of his favorite brands, DaddyScrubs.

AKA Mom: With such a busy career as an actor, spokesperson and entertainer, how do you juggle that along with being a husband and father of 2 young children?

Ian: I never lose sight of the fact that my family, my wife and kids are my ‘why’ for everything. I never lose sight of “work to live” and not “live to work.” I work to be a provider, to ensure [my family] has everything they need in life to propel them through it successfully.

AKA Mom: You’ve become a spokesperson for a company called DaddyScrubs. What is it about that company that made you want to get involved?

Ian: The company started with scrubs that said ‘I’m Daddy’. I think it’s great to pull fathers into it. Usually dads sit on the sideline while nurses run around and while the wives go into delivery. When I wore them, it made me feel like I was a big part of the experience.  I don’t know, why but it did… maybe because everyone noticed them. I love the font and the way it’s written. It was a way to proclaim ‘Here I am!’ Everyone acknowledged it with a smile on their face. Everyone was able to relate to me. It was a way to announce ‘I’m proud and a part of this experience’. The brand has become a bit of a lifestyle brand. It’s not just about scrubs anymore. It’s about creating situations and connecting. It’s about getting back to the dinner table, for instance. My mom always had food on the table and we all came together as a family. I’ve got so many great memories of those dinners that we had together. As you grow older, it’s not about money; it’s not material things that grow wealth. It’s the depth of the love you have for your family and friends. For me, and so many others, the dinner table is a place where it all starts.  It’s a time to come together and share and further build the bond you have with your family. That’s what DaddyScrubs is all about. 

AKA Mom: DaddyScrubs has recognized you as ‘Daddy of the Year’. That’s quite an accomplishment!

Ian: Yes, I’m very proud of that! My hat goes off to my dad who was my role model growing up. Because of the values and morals he instilled in me and because of the way in which he taught me, I really am just paying it forward. My dad taught me to be as hardworking as I possibly can. He taught me that failure is not an option and to commit to your success. I also have an amazing wife, and none of this would have been possible without her. She matches my energy and enthusiasm; she is such a dynamic woman and role model. Being a dad is the best role I’ve ever had. Being named Daddy of the Year is like receiving a daddy Oscar!

AKA Mom: Your wife Erin is a nurse. Was she the one who recommended DaddyScrubs for you during her deliveries?

Ian: Yes! She was in her first trimester, and she brought a pair home with her after work and I chuckled. They said ‘I’m the daddy.’ When I wore them into the delivery room for the first time, I had such a positive reaction; from the doctors to the nurses to the people in the waiting room, everywhere I went! I was so full of pride that day that I could have yelled from the top of a mountain how proud I was to be a dad. Wearing the DaddyScrubs added another level of enthusiasm for me.

AKA Mom: What is it like having two daughters sharing the same birthday now? Will it make the party planning process easier?

Ian: I don’t know yet! We celebrated Mia’s birthday a week early because we weren’t sure when Penna was going to be born. It’s so serendipitous! As the girls get older, I’m sure they are going to embrace it. I think when they have birthdays on the same day it adds another special layer to their relationship as sisters. I think we will have joint birthday parties until Mia is about 6 years old. I’m thrilled about it!

AKA Mom: Your daughter Penna was born this past April. How did you do in the delivery room during Penna’s birth compared to Mia’s?

Ian: Mia’s birth was much more difficult for my wife. Erin wanted to do it naturally without drugs and epidurals. As a man you don’t have the final say about that [giggles]. Erin was born in 45 minutes in an elevator. She thought she might have a similar experience during her deliveries. When Erin was 4 hours into contractions, screaming and crying, the doctor had said she was only 4 centimeters dilated, and that’s when she relented and asked for the epidural. Every time the contractions came, it was like torture. As a husband, it’s hard to see that. My wife is a strong woman and wanted to tough it out but it was just too difficult and hard to see her in so much pain. It was smooth sailing after the epidural though. Penna’s birth was much simpler. Erin took the epidural first thing and my daughter was born in the morning. Penna’s birth was definitely much easier on all of us. 

AKA Mom: What advice would you give to expecting and new dads?

Ian: My advice for expecting and new dads is to speak to other fathers…starting with their own if possible. Take some classes on child rearing, go to the ‘Mommy and Me’ classes, learn baby CPR, and have a lot of patience and understanding. Be prepared! Your wife is going through so many changes; her hormones are so off-kilter and she might do some things that are unexpected. And if you find yourself stressed out, look at is as par for the course. Take pause and understand that weaker people than you have accomplished greater, so there is no reason why you can’t do this. Just immerse yourself in it. It’s so worth it!

AKA Mom: After watching you on Season 4 of Dancing with the Stars, everyone knows you’ve got the moves. And you can definitely light up the big screen. Will you be going for the triple threat and launch a singing career?

Ian: Oh, man! I sang on Broadway as a child. I still sing to my kids all the time, but I don’t know if I have the chops anymore. I did some cartoons in the 90’s that damaged my vocal chords. I can’t hit the high notes as flawlessly as I used to. I do love to sing though and can sing some things pretty well. But to embark on a singing career, that’s not me. To cut an album? No way. 

AKA Mom: What’s next for you, your career, and your family?

Ian: Well, career wise, with the success of Sharknado, there is a lot going on — the sequel to that is going to happen in the next few months. In terms of my family, my wife and I are on the gardening committee for my daughter’s preschool, so tomorrow we will be tending to planting beds. We will be replanting the gardens with fruits and vegetables for my daughter’s school. After that, one day at a time. I like to live in and enjoy the moment.

Channing Tatum:

Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum are the latest Hollywood couple to became first-time parents.

The Magic Mike star, 33, and the Step Up actress, 32, welcomed their first child in London, England on May 30.

As of June 2, no further information had been announced about baby Tatum. But just hours before welcoming their baby, we saw the handsome couple walking their dogs in their London neighborhood.

Bill Rancic:

Bill Rancic and wife Giuliana Rancic welcomed their first child, son Duke, on August 29.

Giuliana opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about celebrating Bill’s first Father’s Day.

“I want to plan a very special Father’s Day since this will be Bill’s first,” Giuliana said.

She added: “Since we’re spending Mother’s Day in LA, I’d love to plan an exciting weekend in Chicago – Bill’s hometown – with both of my boys. Depending on the weather, I’d love to start off with a run with Bill and Duke in the jogger along the lakefront. It would be really nice to walk to the zoo, some museums, and then top the night off with dinner at RPM Italian.”

Dax Shepard:

Parenthood star Dax Shepard, 38, and House of Lies actress Kristen Bell, 32, became parents in March.

The engaged couple welcomed a daughter on Thursday, March 28. “Lincoln Bell Shepard is here,” the proud new papa announced via Twitter. “She has mom’s beauty and dad’s obsession with breasts. Hooray!!!”

The Veronica Mars star recently boasted that Dax is “the best” dad. “It’s like he’s just made a new best friend,” she added. “He just talks to her all the time. And sings to her all day. It’s wonderful.”

Chris Pratt:

Scary Movie star Anna Faris, 36, and husband, Zero Dark Thirty actor Chris Pratt, 33, welcomed their first child, son Jack, on August 25.

“He was born nine weeks premature, so we spent a month in the intensive care unit with him,” Chris revealed in January. “But he’s totally healthy now. He is just so perfect and I love him so much.”

“Chris is an amazing dad. He really is,” Anna recently gushed of her husband. ”He feeds the baby almost every morning so I can sleep in. . . It’s very sexy to watch him be a dad!”

Wiz Khalifa:

Model Amber Rose, 29, and fiancé, rapper Wiz Khalifa, 25, welcomed their first child, son Sebastian ’The Bash’ on February 21.

The rapper tweeted the happy news, writing, “Happy Birthday Sebastian ‘The Bash’ Taylor Thomaz!!! Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world.”

Nick Lachey:

Nick Lachey, 39, and wife Vanessa Lachey, 32, welcomed their first child, son Camden, on September 12.

“It has changed me for sure. It literally affects everything you do, every decision you make,” Nick recently shared of fatherhood. “Your priorities completely shift and your kids instantly become the most important thing in the world. I think it’s made me a more patient person as well.

“My greatest joy is waking him up every day,” he added. “Seeing that little boy look up and smile at me every morning is the perfect way to start my day. The biggest challenge is having enough time in the day to do everything I need to do.”

Jackson Rathbone:

Twilight star Jackson Rathbone, 28, and his girlfriend Sheila Hafsadi welcomed their firstborn child, son Monroe, on July 5.

“He’s the most wonderful thing,” Jackson gushed of his baby boy. “He’s so beautiful, he’s got the greatest smile, little dimples. We’re blessed because he sleeps through the night.”

A.J. McLean:

Backstreet Boys star A.J. McLean, 35, and wife Rochelle McLean welcomed their firstborn child, daughter Ava, on November 27.

“I can’t stress how much my daughter is an inspiration to stay sober,” the boy bander said. “When I come home and she opens those big blue eyes at me, it’s the most amazing feeling I could ever feel.”

He added: “I’m not looking for sympathy. It’s a constant struggle, and it’s not as easy as you think.”

Steve Martin:

Funny man Steve Martin became a first-time dad at the age of 67 when his wife, Anne Stringfield, 41, welcomed a daughter in December. No further information has been announced on baby Martin.

“Steve’s very private,” a source said. “They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby.”

The couple were wed in a private ceremony in July 2007.

Robbie Williams:

British popstar Robbie Williams, 39, and wife Adya Field, 34, welcomed their first child, daughter Teddy, on September 18.

“I am on nappy patrol,” Robbie said after Teddy’s birth. “I am nappy changer, chief nappy changer. I love it. I love burping her. I love feeding her and I love changing nappies. It’s weird – I find it uniquely bonding.”

“Your world changes for the better – she’s an absolute gift, she’s an absolute joy,” he added. “I absolutely adore being a dad.”
