There comes a point when most moms expect acne to be behind them.Maybe you survived the awkward teenage years only to find yourself breaking out again in your 30s or 40s. Or perhaps you’re watching your teenager struggle with the same insecurities you remember feeling yourself.Acne can resurface during pregnancy, after having children, throughout perimenopause, or simply during times of increased stress. And while you’re trying to understand what’s happening with your own skin, you’re also helping your child navigate theirs. For years, acne treatments focused on one goal: drying out the skin. Strong cleansers, harsh spot treatments, long courses of antibiotics, and prescription medications have helped many people manage breakouts. However, these approaches can also come with drawbacks, including dryness, irritation, gut health concerns, or hormonal side effects, depending on the treatment.Today, we know acne is far more complex than simply having oily skin. Research shows it can be influenced by several factors working together, including:

Hormonal fluctuations

Inflammation

Excess oil production

Clogged pores

Skin barrier health

Internal factors like stress and metabolic balance

If you’re tired of harsh acne products that leave skin feeling dry, irritated, or stripped, the Codex SHAANT™ Acne Collection offers a different approach.
A Different Way to Think About Acne Care

The Codex SHAANT™ collection was developed with a different philosophy. Instead of disrupting the skin’s natural balance, the products are designed to help:

Control excess oil

Unclog pores

Calm visible redness

Support the skin barrier

Respect the skin’s microbiome

Address hormonal and inflammatory factors that contribute to acne

It’s a gentler, science backed approach that’s designed to support healthier skin, not just clearer skin.Whether you’re navigating your own hormonal breakouts or helping your teenager build confidence through clearer skin, remember that acne isn’t a reflection of poor hygiene or something you simply have to “grow out of.” It’s a complex condition influenced by hormones, inflammation, stress, and your skin’s natural balance. The good news? You don’t have to rely on harsh treatments alone. With microbiome friendly skincare and wellness supplements designed to support skin from the inside and out, the Codex SHAANT™ Acne Collection offers a thoughtful approach for teens and adults alike.Shop the Codex SHAANT™ Acne Collection today

The array of misinformation floating around about acne is astounding. From how eating greasy foods will lead to breakouts to home remedies and old wives’ tales, when pimples start popping up, so does the advice. But how do you separate fact from fiction?

New York Dermatologist, Eric Schweiger, MD, debunks 5 common acne misconceptions:

Myth #1: You can get acne from sweating

Truth: Sweating does not cause acne. Sweat glands are not the same as oil pores. While sweat alone cannot cause acne, there is a condition called acne mechanica, which is a form of acne that is caused by a combination of heat, friction and covered skin. It’s often found on athletes who sweat under their helmets. Other culprits of acne mechanica include tight clothing, snug backpack straps, and headbands worn for long periods of time.

Myth #2: Eating junk foods will make you break out

Truth: The dermatological community has long dispelled the idea that junk foods, such as French fries and chocolate, cause acne. However, there is new research linking diet to acne. Foods with a high-glycemic level (white breads sugary drinks, processed foods) are thought to trigger the production of androgens, a hormone responsible for oil production.

Myth #3: Washing your face more frequently prevents breakouts

Truth: Actually, over-washing your face can make acne worse. Washing your face any more than twice a day can cause drying of the skin, which can cause skin to produce more oil to overcompensate.

Myth #4: Sun exposure helps clear up acne

Truth: While “drying out acne” in the sun may seem like a good idea, it’s not. The sun not only causes premature aging, but it does nothing to help clear up or heal acne. A suntan may help mask the redness of zits, but it’s only temporary. Once the tan fades, the pimples can come back in full force thanks to ultraviolet light exposure.

Acne Myth #5: Applying toothpaste to a zit will clear it up

Truth: The thinking behind the toothpaste-as-acne-treatment myth is that toothpaste dries out the zit and therefore gets rid of it. Legitimate acne medications, such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, treat zits with the side effect of dry skin, leading people to believe that toothpaste works just the same. Not so. Toothpaste is not an effective acne treatment, not to mention it contains ingredients that can irritate the skin.

By Dana DeMercurio

A few things we loved about being 14 years old include boy bands, sleepovers and school dances. Acne, not so much.

If your arch nemesis (aka acne) hasn’t gotten the memo that being 35 plus years old should be an automatic “get out of acne issues free card,” then it’s time to get serious about a solution.

Enter Dr. Eric Schweiger. This NYC-based dermatologist and acne expert has perfected an acne treatment at Clear Clinic Laboratories designed specifically for adults aged 33 plus.

The Clear Clinic Acne + Aging Clear Kit is a daily acne care regimen consisting of a cleanser, moisturizer, morning serum and evening treatment pads. This targeted treatment provides a gentle remedy for acne without drying out your skin or causing irritation.

“The difference between adult acne and teenage acne is how you treat it. Adults often have dry skin, so you have to pick medicines that don’t over dry,” Schweigher said in an interview on CBS’ talk show ‘The Couch.’

But the kit isn’t the only way to help care for your acne. When you become a client of Clear Clinic Labs, you’ll be assigned a Certified Acne Advisor who will help guide your journey to an acne-free life. These licensed skincare experts are available via email to answer any treatment questions you might have, and provide valuable advice on acne solutions and prevention. Clients also benefit from using video chat once a month to speak to their acne advisor for additional support and guidance.

For women with truly stubborn acne, Clear Clinic Labs has developed over 19 skincare products, so being limited to the kit isn’t an issue. Clients are free to choose acne or anti-aging products that will work best for their skin type.

To learn more about Dr. Eric Schweiger, Clear Clinic Labs and the Clear Clinic Acne + Aging Clear Kit, visit www.clearcliniclabs.com.
